The History of Ohio Peterbilt

Our legacy is deeply rooted in Ohio, from 1945 when Tom Taylor founded the Ohio Machinery Company in Columbus. Now, under the leadership of his grandson, Ken Taylor, who became President in 1994, we've grown significantly.

Originally a Caterpillar Heavy Equipment and CAT Engine Dealer, Ohio Machinery expanded into six subsidiaries, employing 1,624 people across Ohio. These subsidiaries include Ohio CAT, Ohio Peterbilt, Complete Diesel, Complete Bus and Specialty Vehicles, and Complete Hydraulic Component Service. Through strategic acquisitions and controlled growth, we've acquired all Caterpillar dealers in the state.

When Caterpillar exited the on-road engine market, Ohio Machinery sought to continue serving our commercial vehicle customers, leading to the establishment of a network of Peterbilt truck dealerships. In 2018, we purchased four dealerships from All State Peterbilt, and in 2020, we purchased three more from AMG Peterbilt. Today, Ohio Peterbilt offers exceptional service with 10 locations statewide in Cleveland, Canton, Columbus, Findlay, Grove City, Lima, Marietta, Toledo, Youngstown, and Zanesville. Additionally, we operate a body shop in Findlay and a modification plant in Denton, Texas, providing specialized adjustments such as PTO pumps, fenders, hose racks, APUs, custom chrome, and lights.

All 10 Ohio Peterbilt dealerships offer new and used truck sales, parts, and service support for Peterbilt trucks. We stock quality TRP parts for all truck makes and are proud to have 98 Peterbilt factory-trained technicians, including 58 certified MX engine technicians, ranking us 3rd for certified MX technicians in the entire Peterbilt network. We also have certified technicians for Peterbilt EV, CNG, and LNG, making us capable of handling almost anything that rolls into our shops.

We also aim to hire additional technicians to solidify our position as Ohio's leader in heavy-duty truck sales, parts, and service. Ohio Peterbilt continues to deliver solutions to our customers today and for years to come.
